PINNEO INFECTIOUS DISEASE CENTRE

Named after the first nurse who attended to the first Lassa fever patient and survivor in the world. The first Lassa fever patient, a missionary in Lassa town in present-day Borno state, was flown to then ECWA Evangel Hospital (now Bingham University Teaching Hospital).

In 2020, the NCDC built this facility to improve management of Lassa fever, COVID-19, and other infectious diseases. It currently manages a variety of infectious diseases. Penny Pinneo’s story can be found here:
